Applicants to the Samuel Jackman Prescod Institute of Technology (SJPI) must be 16 years or older by August 31 and must have a valid passport which expires at least six months after the completion of the programme.
The following documentation must be submitted to the Registrar’s office before the application closing date.
a certified copy of each piece of qualification
a birth or baptism certificate
a testimonial from a senior government officer
proof of health insurance
and a transcript sent directly to the institute from the last school/College attended
a police certificate of character
The closing date for full-time applications is Sunday, March 31, 2024.
Programme fees can vary depending on the programme selected and these range from $300.00 to $400.00 per year. The current rate of exchange of the Barbados dollar is US $1.00 = Bds $1.98.
In addition, international students are required to pay tuition fees of Bds. *$1,500.00 per year. International students are expected to incur the following additional expenses in relation to their training.

Applicants must provide proof that they will be able to finance their training.
Successful applicants will be required to complete the Student Visa Application Forms H1 and H2. These will be provided with the letter of acceptance. The Student Visa Application Forms must be returned completed to the Institution along with two passport size photographs and the visa fee of Bds$300.00. The SJPI will accept a Bank Draft or applicants will be provided with banking details for direct deposit to the Institution’s account.
An orientation session is conducted one week before the start of the academic year, which all international students are mandated to attend. Personal orientation/question and answer sessions can be arranged for individual students as deemed necessary.
Registration dates will be stated in the letter of acceptance. It is expected that students from overseas will register at least one week before the commencement of the academic year.
A detailed list of available and recommended accommodation will be made available to successful applicants. The list will itemize the name and contact details of the landlord(s), the type of accommodation, the facilities available and the rent charged. Students are expected to make their own housing arrangements and indicate in good time their selection in terms of accommodation.
If required, arrangements can be made for international students to be met at the Grantley Adams International Airport on their arrival in Barbados and taken to their accommodation. Students must give details of their airline expected arrival times as soon as their bookings are confirmed. We encourage students to book flights arriving in Barbados between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. whenever possible.
