Painting and Decorating
Class of 2004
With a love for all things mechanical, Kevin Austin applied to the Samuel Jackman Prescod Polytechnic in 2003 to study Mechanical Maintenance Engineering. Unfortunately he was not accepted for this programme but was offered a place in the Painting and Decorating programme. He was disappointed. Nevertheless his determination to succeed saw him emerge as the most outstanding student in his class. On reflection, Kevin has much to be thankful for when he thinks of the SJPP. For instance, in 2004 he was assigned to Port St. Charles for job attachment and was able to maintain employment there until now; on staff until 2014 and now as a sub-contractor under the flag of his own company “Magic Touch Painters”. This name was birthed at the SJPP in a Business Studies course he took here. He wholeheartedly embraces this opportunity to give back to the institution which gave him his start in life and to be a support and inspiration for all present students. He can truly say that every disappointment can be a blessing if you decide to give your best, no matter what.
