Class of 1984

After being introduced to Basic Agriculture in secondary school, Anthony Kellman entered the Samuel Jackman Prescod Polytechnic to pursue the Diploma in Agriculture in 1982. He was introduced to the theory and practice of Agriculture and the innovations that make Agriculture the cornerstone of most developed countries. He can still remember the words of one of his instructors, “You may not become rich, but you will get the opportunity to travel the world”.  He certainly has not travelled the world yet, but today he holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Agriculture with a minor in Horticulture from Nova Scotia Agricultural College, Dalhousie University, Canada; a Master of Science degree in Vegetable Production from Kagoshima University, Japan and a Doctor of Philosophy in Agronomy from Lincoln University, New Zealand.  He has also pursued studies in Trinidad and has worked extensively in agriculture right here in Barbados.  Currently Dr. Kellman is working with the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations in the area of Programme Support, Monitoring and Evaluation of Regional and National Agricultural Projects.
