As Eric Hassell & Son Ltd marks 55 years, we are proud to invest in education and health initiatives that shape the future of Barbados.
Last Friday, Chairman of the Board Mark Hassell signed an MOU with the Samuel Jackman Prescod Institute of Technology (SJPI), launching the Eric Hassell Memorial Scholarship for 10 students in the Certificate and Diploma programmes of Marine Diesel Engineering and Maritime Operations, starting in 2025. Our founder Captain Eric Hassell always encouraged educational pursuits among family and staff alike and this MOU celebrates his vision.
On signing the MOU Coreen Kennedy-Taitt, Chairman of the SJPI Board said, “This generous initiative reflects a shared commitment to fostering the growth of Barbados’ maritime industry by investing in our students’ education. The signing of this MOU not only solidifies a meaningful collaboration between industry and education but also represents a significant step toward preparing the next generation of skilled professionals to drive innovation and excellence in the sector.”
The company also donated a Symphony Breast Pump system to the Rotary Club of Barbados for the Amai Programme, supporting at-risk young mothers and their children through essential care and training. President of the Club, Arlene Ross, received the donation on behalf of the service organisation. This presentation represents EHS’s continued commitment to serving the community, having donated equipment to the QEH’s Neonatal Intensive Care unit in the past.
Captain Eric Hassell’s legacy of service, education, and community lives on in every initiative we undertake. Here’s to 55 more years of growth and giving back!
